TESTIMONIALS FROM PAST STUDENTS
Courtney Griffin, US
I feel so much more aligned with who I am as a person, why I make the work I do and what story I am telling with my art. I feel like a stronger story teller and writer after this class. It far exceeded my expectations and was by far one of the most powerful trainings I've ever done online! Mona created a truly safe space for all students to share bravely, even if it was messy! I cried as I shared parts of my story on the first day, and instead of feeling shame, I felt empowered to continue digging deeper and understanding more of myself. Mona is so generous with her knowledge and I hope to continue learning with her!
Morgan East, US
I took Katelyn's grant writing class in Spring 2024 with the goal of securing funding for my upcoming series, and it turned out to be an invaluable experience. Katelyn's depth of knowledge and her willingness to share personal tips and real examples from her own successful applications made all the difference. Her insights and techniques have become essential tools that I now use in every application process, from grants to residencies. I recently received the SCAC grant this fall, and I know Katelyn's guidance placed a major role in helping me achieve that success!

Katelyn Chapman received an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Georgia in 2018 and a BFA with an emphasis in Drawing from Clemson University in 2014. After graduate school she pursued a career in both the arts and higher education, teaching at the College of Charleston and The American College of the Building Arts in Charleston, SC at various capacities. At the end of 2023 Chapman decided to leave her full-time position as Professor of Art at ACBA to pursue her art career full-time. She continues to teach on an occasional basis with both online and in-person workshops mainly in Charleston, SC.
Chapman received her first artist grant in 2017 as a graduate student to help fund her thesis exhibition and has worked to master the craft of grant writing ever since. She is a three-time Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grantee (‘19, ‘21, & ‘24) and the recipient of several smaller faculty, opportunity, and regional grants; all of which helped to fund artistic goals including three solo exhibitions across the Southeastern US as well as several artist residencies including those at The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences in Rabun Gap, Georgia (’21), Chateau Orquevaux in Champagne-Ardenne, France (’22), and The Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, South Carolina (’24).
