ARTIST BIO

Ceili Seipke is a Vermont-based visual artist, who grew up in Pennsylvania as the first child born in America to her Hungarian immigrant family and is a first-generation college student. She received a B.F.A. in Painting with a minor in Interior Design from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

While raising a family, Ceili worked a variety of jobs, including teaching art workshops, owning a non-profit for creating murals, and supporting students for eleven years as a full-time Behavioral Interventionist. She kept her artistic passions in the background until 2019, when she reignited her creative spark, diving into imaginative photographic narratives and costume-making.

Her current work, which includes ethereal portraiture and encaustic photography, captures timeless femininity with a touch of surrealism. Ceili’s art has been featured in online and local exhibitions and publications like Art Seen Magazine and Women United Art Movement Magazine. She was a finalist in the Photography & Printmaking category of the Women United ART PRIZE in both 2022 and 2023.

In March 2023, Ceili founded The Art Dames Society, a global support network for women creatives of all skill levels and mediums. Through this inclusive platform, she celebrates and champions the captivating voices of female-identifying artists worldwide.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I embrace various mediums in my art, but photography remains my steadfast companion. Specializing in magical realism portraiture, I transport viewers to enchanting alternate worlds inspired by tales of fantasy and science fiction. My ethereal art merges storytelling with imagery, igniting imagination and evoking distant dreams.

Recently, my focus has been on ethereal women, capturing their mesmerizing allure and mystical surroundings. These women radiate timeless beauty with a subtle, knowing half-smile, and their eyes reflect an “old soul” profound wisdom. I strive to capture as much as possible in-camera, placing my subjects in nature, wrapped in mist, sunlight, or twilight to enhance their ethereal essence. They often wear ensembles I've designed, blending flowing fabrics with rugged, masculine footwear for grounding. The portraits are softened to create an enchanting atmosphere, sometimes layered with image composites that infuse vibrant or surreal landscape colors. A glow often emanates from points of light around the subject, be it fireflies, a glowing moon, or sunbeams.

My goal is to capture the delicate balance between the human form and the intangible world. Step into my realm of ethereal portraiture and discover the magic within.
