"THE CONNECTED COLLECTION IS A SERIES OF CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT WATERCOLOR LANDSCAPES PAINTED ON NATURAL MATERIALS INCLUDING HANDMADE COTTON PAPERS AND CRADLED WOOD PANEL.
THE PAINTING PROCESS IS SLOW AND INTENTIONAL. I MUST STILL MY BODY AND MIND, BE GROUNDED AND FULLY PRESENT BEFORE BEGINNING EACH PAINTING. I USE NEARLY EVERY BRUSH IN MY ARSENAL TO CREATE UNIQUE MARKS. THE FINAL PIECES FUSE MODERN MINIMALISM WITH ORGANIC MARKS.
WHILE CREATING THESE PIECES, I WAS REMEMBERING HOW TO CONNECT TO THE EARTH, THAT MY CONNECTION TO THE EARTH IS MY STRENGTH, INTUITION AND MAGIC.
THIS COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS ILLUSTRATES THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SKY, THE SEA, THE LAND, THE DEPTHS AND LAYERS OF SOIL, DOWN TO THE FRESH WATER BENEATH. IT ALL WORKS TOGETHER TO BRING US LIFE.
“CONNECTED” IS MY WAY OF SCREAMING OUT TO THIS GENERATION OF WOMEN TO REMEMBER THAT WE ARE PART OF THIS CONNECTION. WE ARE AN ESSENTIAL LAYER IN THIS CONNECTION.
THESE PIECES ARE TAILORED TO THOUGHTFUL INDIVIDUALS WHO SEEK BEAUTY WITH MEANING—ART THAT REMINDS US OF OUR VITAL CONNECTION TO MOTHER NATURE."

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Krystle Stevenson (b. 1984) was always drawn to the creative life, making art in stolen moments, but took a winding path to pursue it professionally. A path that started out with an MSA from the University of Connecticut School of Business, and eventually found its way toward curiosity, exploration, and light. She dedicated herself to creating fine art full time in 2020 and has been cultivating her studio art practice since.
She lives and works in Connecticut with her husband, three sons, and one very affectionate rescue dog. She is deeply connected to and inspired by the land she lives on. She grows native pollinator and vegetable gardens, and grows several types of seasonal New England fruits. She hopes to pass on her connection to nature through her fine art pieces.
"My work is inspired by nature as I experience it with all of my senses. The natural world is enchanting and wonder-filled. With acrylic and watercolor, I translate these feelings into fine art. Each painting is an expression of the energy and vibrancy found in the land, sea, sky, and flora that surround us.
My art practice is based on exploration, curiosity, and finding a meditative flow state that allows art to pass through me onto the page. I have learned to let my intuition guide me - the way my body moves, the marks I make, the colors I choose. In this way, my work blends into play.
When you first see my paintings, they’re meant to evoke a sense of lightness, wonder, and hope. My aim is to encourage viewers to return and engage in conversations—whether with others or through self-reflection—about our interdependencies with nature and each other."
