IN ‘EMBRACED BY STONE’ SCULPTOR MARLOES DURINCK EXPLORES HOW COLD, HARD MATERIAL CAN CARRY SOFT EMOTIONS. HER SCULPTURES REVEAL CONNECTIONS, VULNERABILITY, AND THE QUIET DIALOGUES BETWEEN HUMANS, NATURE AND MATERIAL. FROM EMBRACING FIGURES TO FRAGILE NATURAL FORMS, EACH PIECE INVITES REFLECTION ON STRENGTH AND TENDERNESS HIDDEN WITHIN STONE. THIS EXHIBITION FEATURES 21 WORKS, INCLUDING SOLD PIECES, SHOWCASING THE TIMELESS APPEAL OF HER ART.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marloes Durinck is a self-taught sculptor who works primarily with stone. Despite physical challenges, she has found her own path in dialogue with the material - with feeling, patience and respect for the story the stones hold.
Her work, whether intimate Connection Stones or larger sculptures, revolves around connection: with oneself, with others, and with the natural world. It explores inner strength, vulnerability and the beauty of imperfection. Her sculptures are silent companions, inviting stillness, reflection and recognition. Without words, but with deep resonance.
" I work with stone because it carries time.
Every line, every fracture, every moment of resistance tells a story.
My process is not about control, but collaboration.
I listen to what wants to emerge, whether it’s an intimate Connection Stone or a larger sculpture.
My work is a quiet rebellion from my soul. What I call ‘soul resistance’.
An invitation to feel what is hard to put into words,
to pause and notice what often goes unseen,
and to experience connection - with yourself, with others and with the world around you.
My sculptures do not ask for space;
they ask for attention, for recognition, for connection."
