ARTIST BIO

Artemis Duo is a chamber ensemble formed by Emma Baiguera on guitar and Gabriela Clelia Cuna on flute and piccolo. The duo aims to explore and enhance new music with a focus on women's compositions, without neglecting more traditional repertoire. The ensemble performs at various festivals and music events, collaborating with female composers active in the contemporary scene. In 2025, the ensemble was selected as a participant in the upcoming precept.concept.percept XIII residency program. In 2026, they released their first album, “anotHER VOiCE” (Doberman), dedicated to the complete flute and guitar works of Dutch composer Annette Kruisbrink.

Emma Baiguera (1999) graduated cum laude and with Honorable Mention from the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan as a student of Maria Vittoria Jedlowski, with a thesis on female guitar repertoire. Alongside her concert activity, she researches 20th-century and contemporary women composers. She is a member of the guitar trio In Tempore Belli. In 2024, she released “Ladies of the Six Strings” (Da Vinci Publishing), featuring works by female composers. She is also a certified music therapist, completing her training at CMT (Milan) in 2025.

Gabriela Clelia Cuna (1997) attained her Flute Master and Piccolo postgraduate degrees cum laude at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, studying with D. Collino and N. Mazzanti. Alongside her duo activity, she actively performs with orchestras, collaborating with various ensembles and conductors in festivals like MilanoMusica and MiTo, and with institutions such as Teatro Carcano in Milan. She won several solo and chamber music award, in particular in 2023, she won third prize in the Angelo Persichilli Competition, Piccolo category, and in 2025 she was a finalist in the Serverino Gazzelloni International Competition.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Our core mission is rooted in a clear and shared purpose: to amplify the presence of women in classical music. In a field where female contributions are still frequently overlooked, we work to bring these voices to the forefront—not as a solitary effort, but as a meaningful contribution to a much wider and growing awareness within the contemporary music world.

Beyond performing the traditional repertoire for flute and guitar, we focus on building a supportive and positive network with both Italian and international female composers. This collaborative approach allows us to move beyond the role of simple performers, turning each project into a shared creative process.

This commitment to collaboration recently led us to a significant partnership with Dutch guitarist and composer Annette Kruisbrink. Our shared vision resulted in our debut recording, anotHER VOICE (Doberman label), an album dedicated entirely to Kruisbrink’s repertoire and the first concrete milestone in our mission to champion female voices in music. The title deliberately highlights the words “her voice”; however, this voice is not a solitary effort, but rather “another voice” contributing to a supportive and positive network of women artists.
