ARTIST BIO
Elena Miller is a visual artist who primarily works with acrylic painting, creating symbolic works that examine choice, agency, and inner direction. Her practice combines metaphor, layered textures, and spatial imagery to translate internal states into visual form, encouraging reflection on self-authorship and perception.
With over ten years of professional experience as a digital artist and illustrator, she brings a robust groundwork in visual storytelling, composition, and symbolic language into her painting practice. This background informs her approach to structure and narrative, allowing intuitive content to be shaped through deliberate visual decisions. Themes of inner clarity, conscious choice, and personal responsibility recur throughout her work.
In summer 2025, she began developing the Keyhole collection; a project focused on the perception of emerging branching of further paths in life and thus self-evolution. The series explores thresholds between inner and outer experience, using symbolic framing to question what is seen, concealed, or chosen. Works from this collection were first exhibited in the group exhibition Canvas of the World in Dubai, UAE.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The main themes that I explore within my artistic practice are inner states: awareness, choice, self-authorship, and imagination.
My choice of symbolic imagery reflects how individuals navigate life’s multitude of choices, rules, boundaries, or a personal sense of direction, or how they balance and are able to harmonize external expectations with their inner self.
To further deepen the emotional impact of my work, I use textured, unevenly layered, or cracked surfaces and acrylic on canvas as metaphors for deep inner wisdom, memory, internal seeking, and transformation. Instead of being solely illustrative narratives, my paintings evoke vivid associations, creating space for reflection-moments where viewers can pause, recognize themselves, and imagine alternative paths for ward.
The belief that acts as my creative direction is that when we consciously connect with our inner compass with care and compassion, we gain agency, clarity, and meaning in whichever path we choose to take in life.
