ARTIST BIO
Maggie Rose Schneider (she/her) is a self-taught, acrylic painter who resides in Northern Michigan. She graduated with a BFA in interior design from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2022, but has always had a passion for traditional arts. Maggie is a painter of emotion and human experience. She finds true beauty in vulnerability, emotional resonance, and connectivity. Through color, modern still life compositions, and portraits, she tells the story of nuanced yet familiar feelings. She explores the duality of pain and bliss. Depictions of mental health struggles, nostalgia, trauma, love, and relationships are present themes in her paintings.
Maggie has been a part of a group art gala, showcasing the work of female and non-binary artists. Her work is also featured in Create! Magazine Issue #47.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My current body of work is focused on the expression of the human experience, complex feelings, and my struggle with mental health. Through the use of ordinary objects, I portray nuanced emotions and experiences that unite us all. I treat my paintings as journal entries that I vulnerably share with the world. I use color psychology along with symbolism to better communicate the story I am telling. Each painting is part of me and I hope to foster feelings of comfort and community. My goal with each piece is to normalize deep and heavy emotions, whether they be good or bad, as emotions are what create our deepest connections.
