Streaks of electric light, motion, and emotion transform NashMith's New York City photography into a poetic, abstract vision. Through her unique “photo-paintings”, she explore light as memory, movement, and connection – revealing the city in a completely new way.
Born during a time of isolation, COVID pandemic, her work speaks of resilience, presence, and the beauty hidden in motion. NashMith was trying to connect with the shutdown city around her. The streaks of electric light running through the dark skein of her neighborhood became that connection, a sign of life, something to hang onto.
NashMith's “photo-painting” experiment continues to date. Alchemic manipulation of speed, depth, and light sensitivity capture light in motion, creating her painterly photographs. At times the movement captured is linear, at others a tangled interwoven abstraction. Each marvelously expressive, evocative of unique feelings and memories. NashMith is a juried Signature Member of NAWA, The National Association of Women Artist, and a featured artist in the World Art Collection. Curated images in her ChasingLight portfolio are available as custom, acrylic glass prints to adorn all walls!
