ROSANNA BRUNO

Location:

Graz, Austria

ARTIST BIO

Rosanna Bruno works at the intersection of collage, acrylic painting, watercolor, oil pastel, and performance. Her practice revolves around inner states, identity, and the friction between self-image and external images, often expressed through layered, paper-based works and mixed-media approaches.

Her artistic approach is shaped by an interdisciplinary background: she completed a Master’s degree in Psychology at the Universität Graz and deepened her studies in dance and expressive pedagogy at the Zentrum für Ausdruckstanz und Tanztherapie Graz. She is currently developing collaborative performance projects (2026) focused on representations of women and identity, as well as on social tensions.

ARTIST STATEMENT

In my work I try to depict inner states that are often difficult to put into words: ambivalences, tensions, ruptures, pressure. At the moment I work mainly with collage, acrylic, watercolor, and oil pastel, alongside performative approaches, because these allow me to build layers. I cover, reveal, paint over, or reorder so memory spaces emerge, sometimes contradictory.

I’m interested in identity as a process. When does an inner state tip into an outer image, and what remains unseen? Through performative approaches I expand the image into the body.
